There is a big differnce in the way this are in the play Pygmalion and how we live now in the twentieth century. I believe that we in the twentieth century don't really worry about the things that they worried about during the time of Pygmalion. Shaw showed how a man wanted to change a lady to make her "fit in" with his kind. We care more about other meaningless things and broadcast them.
In the play Pygmalion, Mr. Higgins gave Eliza, a poor flower girl, speach lessons. It gave her confidence and also brought her love. These days people don't help in those ways unless it's something in it for them, I think we are afraid of change.
